McGuire AFB

McGuire AFB

I'm so sick of reading the negative comments about McGuire. Its so predictable for the DEPENDANT who does nothing at all for the militry (no offense but its the truth) to complain about how the housing on base isnt 'big enough' for the furniture. Be glad that you have a place to CALL your own. You have a HOUSE to live in. Plenty of people work their entire lives and never get to say that. And yes, the cost of living is expensive in the north east (not just New Jersey), but jobs also pay more up here. That compensates for that. Also, if you notice...BAH here in NJ is pretty high. You can definatly find a nice place to live where you would be SAVING money. I've been stationed here for four years, and it took a little getting use to. But it is DEFINATLY not as bad as some of you make it out to be. Just like life- it is what you make it. If you sit your happy A$$ at home all day and all night long, then no wonder you're hating it. That is the impression I am getting from one of the people that wrote about this base, because she was complaining that she has to drive 15 minutes to WALMART. Anyway IF that is the case, then you really dont have much to say about McGuire AFB...because you know nothing about it. As far as the commisary raising prices....I know the manager and that is just simply not true. If you go there a few days before pay day, i can guarantee that almost half the store will be on sale. I am not saying this base is the BEST, but its a great place if you just give it a chance. Like every other military instalation, it has its ups and downs. However; after you get use to its cons, its a great base.
