NOB has to be one of the nicest bases we have been. My husbands command is wonderful, despite what people say or think. If they were stationed where we were before..they would think different. I like this base, however Norfolk itself is a little too dirty for our liking. Where we live is perfect in the sense that the drive is like 10 minutes. We live right outside gate 4. Everyone has been so wonderful on base, and on the ship, that they make life more comfortable, since my hubby and I are far far from home. However I have been having difficulties making friends this time around, so it makes life harder when I am by myself. But overall NOB is a good place.
