Fort Drum

Fort Drum is the worst military installation! I've been doing this military all my life. Born in it, joined it and married into it! I've been to a lot of military bases and this is the worse! The soldier isn't stationed here the spouse is stationed here. Thank God for FRG or you would be alone. Hopefully you'll have a good FRG. The schools are horrible. They don't have open door policies. You're not allowed to observe your child in class without permission. H.T. Wiley Elementary doesn't have walls or doors. There's nothing to do here. We have 5 children and they don't have a chuck e cheese or a toys r us. They do have a SMALL KB Toys. If you're a minority prepare yourself for racism. However there are more GOOD people here than those idiots. Jobs are scarce. Housing is spread out all over these rural areas. The best place to live if you don't get on post is Watertown. They have the most stores. Housing sucks but ALL military housing sucks. Gotta be grateful that you get housing :) The civilian houses out here look like witch town. If you don't mind driving, Syracuse is a little over an hour away. I do see some changes occuring. They are building more stores out here in Watertown but I can't wait to get orders out of here and never return!
