If you have an extra 2 pounds or so of strawberries left over from making my recipe for "Crazy Italian Strawberries", then you'll want to make this refreshing fruit drink too. If you do not have any strawberries left over, then go buy more... This recipe makes 10 cups of flavored fruit drinks. INGREDIENTS: 2 pounds of fresh strawberries; 1 cup granulated sugar; 8 cups water, divided; and 2 limes. DIRECTIONS: Step 1: Hull the strawberries, then cut them into halves or coarsely chop. Place in a large bowl. Toss with 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours. Step 2: Transfer the strawberries to a blender and puree until smooth. Place a large wire sieve over a large bowl and pour in the pureed strawberries. Use a spoon to help push the liquid through. Discard the remaining seeds. Step 3: Stir in the remaining 7 cups water into the strained strawberries. Chill in refrigerator until ready to serve. Final Step: Cut the limes into wedges to serve with the Aqua de Fresa and Enjoy! |
