Save money by making your own Ice Cream Cake!!
1/2 gallon any flavor ice cream, softened
20 Oreo or Hydrox type cookies, crushed
2 tbsp. melted butter
4 candy bars (your choice), roughly chopped
Large tub of whipped topping,thawed
Combine cookie crumbs and melted butter and press into the bottom of a 8 or 9 inch springform pan. Place an even layer of half the ice cream on top, smooth to cover completely. Place a layer of chopped candy, then another layer of ice cream. Put in freezer for 3-4 hours. Remove from freezer. Remove the ring from the pan, and use the whipped topping as your icing. Once the cake is completely covered with whipped topping, you can use a cake decorating tool to pipe the remaining whipped topping into decorative stars/swags around the edges. Sprinkle with sprinkles if desired.
You can make many varieties by changing the ice cream and candy flavors. You can even use 2 different flavor ice creams; one for each layer. My family's favorite is Moosetracks ice cream with Reese's cups candy. Be creative and enjoy ice cream cake anytime without breaking the bank.
