Christmas Morn Casserole

Recipe: 12 slices bread, crust trimmed, and butter one side 5 ounce jar bacon bits 8 ounce package shredded cheddar cheese, divided 1 tomato, sliced thin 6 eggs 3 cups half and half or whole milk 1 teaspoon dry mustard 1 pound sausage of choice, cooked and crumbled Coat a 13x9 casserole dish with oil or butter spray. Place 6 slices of bread in casserole, buttered side "up". Sprinkle on bacon, 1/2 of sausage, 1/2 of cheese. Top with remaining buttered bread slices. Buttered side "up". Sprinkle on rest of cheese and sausage over top. Arrange tomato slices over top of this. Beat together your eggs, milk and mustard. Pour over everything in casserole. At this point you can season with salt and pepper to suit yourself. Cover casserole with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. Next day remove plastic wrap and let set 1/2 hour. Then place in a preheated oven set at 350 degree. Bake for one hour. Remove, let set for 5 minutes. Cut and serve. This goes well with some fresh cut up fruit along side.
