All ingredients are used raw and that's what makes this recipe so easy and good. I got this recipe from my great aunt and she got it out of a newspaper in 1950 when my uncle was in the Navy.
1 pound ground beef
1 onion cut into rings
1 can Cambell's tomato soup or tomato sauce
8 slices american cheese
6 slices bacon
2 potatoes cut thinly
1 can Campbell's pork and beans
salt and pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
In a 13X9 pan or larger,(spray pan with Pam so it wont' stick) layer potatoes to cover bottom of pan then add onion rings sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
Next, crumble raw ground beef over top then add 1 can pork and beans then tomato soup or sauce spread out evenly over previous layer. Lastly cut strips of bacon in small bite size pieces and ditribute evenly over soup or sauce.
Place in oven for 50 minutes or until potatoes are soft.
Add American cheese over top and bake an additional 10 minutes.
You can add more potatoes, onions, pork and beans or even bacon to suit your needs makes a GREAT potluck item!!
Enjoy
