Buttermilk Biscuits

Recipe: Buttermilk Biscuits ******************************************************** No-Stick Cooking Spray 1-3/4 cups self-rising flour, 1/4-teaspoon baking soda- 1/2-teaspoon salt, 1-tablespoon sugar, 3-tablespoons Crisco Shortening or 3 tablespoons Crisco Stick, cut into small pieces, 1-cup buttermilk, 1/4-cup all-purpose flour for dusting, 2-tablespoons butter, melted, ********************************************************** Position oven rack in the center position. Preheat oven to 475 degrees. Spray an 8-inch cake pan with Crisco No Stick Spray; set aside. Mix dry ingredients by hand in a large mixing bowl; cut in Crisco Shortening with a pastry cutter or 2 knives. Pour buttermilk over the mixture; stir until well-blended and a soft, sticky dough is formed. Let stand 2-3 minutes. Place the all-purpose flour in a small, shallow dish. Spray an ice-cream scoop with Crisco No Stick Spray. Scoop dough into 10 portions; roll in the flour to lightly dust each biscuit; shake off excess flour. Place biscuits in prepared pan; brush with melted butter. Bake 15 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Let stand 2-3 minutes before serving warm with your favorite Jam, Jelly or Preserves.
