Recipe: Chocolate Chip Blondies This recipe makes approximately 12 bars. Ingredients ¼ cup butter or margarine 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar 1 egg 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup all-purpose flour ¼ teaspoon salt ¼ teaspoon baking soda ¼ cup white chocolate chips* ¼ cup milk chocolate chips ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts* Directions Preheat oven to 350º F. Grease bottom of an 8-inch square baking pan. Cream together butter and brown sugar in a medium bowl. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl. Add flour mixture to butter mixture; beat until just blended. Do not over mix. Add white chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips and pecans to batter. Stir until batter is well blended. Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake for 25 minutes (or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean). Let cool for 10 minutes before cutting. *Variations: You may substitute butterscotch or peanut butter chips for the white chocolate chips and peanuts for the pecans. For the ultimate experience, you can top off a warm blondie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
