Dirt Cake (Made with Oreos)

Name: Georgia Gutierrez
Base: Fort Benning
Recipe: Dirt Cake This recipe is great for summer to have something fun for children and very low cost. The ingredients are as follows: 8 oz. of cream cheese; 1 cup of powdered sugar; 1/4 cup of butter or margarine; 1 large container of cool whip; 3 and 1/2 cups of milk; 2 packages of instant french vanilla pudding; (1)20oz. package of Oreo Cookies You can make it in any type of dish however, to make it fun for the children I suggest making it in a flower pot and lining it with foil. In a large mixing bowl: Beat until smooth: 8 ounces of cream cheese, 1 cup of powdered sugar, and 1/4 cup of butter or margarine. Fold in 1 large container of Cool Whip. In a separate bowl: Mix together until thick 3 1/2 cups of milk and 2 packages of instant french vanilla pudding and then mix milk and pudding mixture with cream cheese mixture. Crush (1) 20 oz. package of Oreo Cookies. Line a flower pot (about the size of a child's sand pail) with foil. Pat a layer of Oreo crumbs on the bottom. Add filling layer. Alternate filling layer with crumb layer, ending with crumbs. Decorate with real or artifical flowers (or find other edible candy type flowery things in the commisary - use your imagination) and gummy worms! For a Sand Cake do all the same except use Peanut Butter Cookies and put into Sand Pail with a Shovel. Use your imagination to decorate with beach type items for summer parties. Have fun with it and come up with other variations on the recipe.
