Caramel & chocolate pecan bars

Recipe: CRUST:2 C. all-purpose flour; 1C. firmly packed brown sugar; 1/2C.(1 stick)butter, softened; 1C. pecan halves CARAMEL LAYER:2/3C. butter; 1/2C. firmly packed brown sugar; 1C. milk chocolate chips. Heat oven to 350. Combine all crust ingredients except pecans in large mixer bowl. Beat at medium spead until well mixed and particles are fine. Pres mixture onto bottom of ungreased 13x9 baking pan. Place pecans evenly over unbaked crust. Combine butter and brown sugar in 1-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until entire surface of mixture begins to boil. Boil 1 minute, stirring constantly. Pour mixture evenly over pecans and crust. Bake for 18-22 minutes or until entire caramel layer is bubbly.(DO NOT OVER BAKE). rEMOVE FROM OVEN . Immediately sprinkle with chips; allow to melt slightly(2-3 minutes). Swirl chips leaving some whole for marbled effect. Cool completely; cut into bars. Makes 36 bars.
