My family and I have been stationed here for seven years and the only thing we do not like is the colder temperatures from late August to the middle of June. It tends to be a little dry and the wind can be a problem when it comes to outdoor activities. Also, you are out in the middle of nowhere and you really should get credit for a short tour here. The prices of airline tickets are out of control don't be fooled by the international airport. The only reason great Falls has an international air port is for the fact that flights go to and from Canada on small jets. To drive anywhere worth going takes days.
Great Falls does have everything you need. It is a great place to raise a family. The crime rate is very low. If you have orders here don't be discouraged, there are definitely worse places to be. If you like outdoor activities like hunting and fishing this is the best state for that in the lower 48. I would say Montana is second to Alaska for hunting and fishing. Camping, hiking, skiing, motorcycling, and a whole host of other outdoor activities are abundant. Overall, great falls has been good to me and my family and we definitely do not regret our time here.
